Biography

Ronald Hanson was previously inducted into the OSU Academy of Distinguished Engineers in 2000. After graduation from OSU, Hanson went on to earn master's and doctorate degrees at Arizona State and Stanford, respectively, and chose academia for his career. He is currently the Clarence J. and Patricia R. Woodard Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. Hanson was the first recipient of the Aerodynamic Measurement Technology Award in 1996 and has been honored with Fellow designation by both the Optical Society of America and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Ronald Hanson was elected to the National Academy of Engineers in 2002 for his outstanding work in the development and application of innovative laser diagnostics and sensors in the fields of combustion, chemical kinetics and power conversion.
